AI search

Where your brand shows up across AI assistants and search, and what to do about it.

A customer asks an AI assistant for a recommendation in your category and the answer names 3 competitors. Your site ranks on Google, and the AI summary above the results cites someone else.

This service finds out where your brand appears across those answers and why, using first-party data from the platforms themselves. Then it fixes the causes. Most of them are fundamentals: whether crawlers can fetch and read the page, whether the content is substantive, whether the structure is clear, and whether other sources back you up.

It builds on the SEO work you're already doing rather than replacing it. The work is mostly the work that was already on the list.

Which situation sounds like yours?

Visibility

You can't tell whether AI assistants mention you

First-party platform data shows which pages are cited and the retrieval queries behind them. The audit turns that into a baseline you can track month to month.

Access

Your site is built in a way AI crawlers struggle to read

Client-side rendering can leave the HTML near-empty for crawlers that don't run JavaScript. The fix is a rendering decision, and it comes before any content work.

Authority

Competitors are cited and you aren't

Assistants lean on sources they can corroborate. The work reviews what other sites and profiles say about you, and where a competitor has coverage you lack.

Social

Your customers search on social platforms and video

Social platforms now read transcripts and on-screen text directly, so they belong in the same plan as search. The audit covers them as search surfaces.

What the work covers

Search surface audit

Where the brand appears across AI assistants, voice, visual, social and traditional search, and where it is absent.

Crawl access and rendering

Whether AI crawlers can fetch the pages and find the content in the HTML. Sitemaps, canonicals and robots rules checked alongside.

Authority and off-site review

What third-party sources say about the brand, and which ones assistants draw on in your category.

Schema and structured data

Markup where it can be verified against an independent source, such as product and local business data. Clear visible copy does the rest.

Visibility tracking

A baseline and a reporting view built on first-party platform data. Citation counts over time, read as a top-of-funnel signal.

How an engagement runs

Step 1

A short fit call

A short call to check the work suits both sides and agree the scope.

Step 2

A scoping audit, from £564 + VAT

The search surface audit and the crawl access review, with quick fixes going in as I find them. You see where the brand appears today and what is blocking it.

Step 3

Recommendation and plan

A prioritised plan covering the site, the content, the off-site signals and the reporting. You keep it whatever you decide next.

Step 4

Delivery and reporting

Fixes and content on a fractional basis, from £1.8k a month, or handed to your team with the plan. Reporting runs monthly against the same first-party baseline.

FAQs

Is AI search different from SEO?

It builds on it. Assistants retrieve from the same web that search engines index, so crawl access and substantive content still decide most of it. What changes is where the answer appears and how you measure it.

Can you get us cited by ChatGPT?

Nobody can promise a citation. Assistants choose sources from signals a site influences but does not control. The work improves those signals and tracks whether visibility moves.

How do you measure AI visibility?

With first-party data from the platforms themselves, which reports citations and the retrieval queries behind them. Citation counts over time are the measure, read as a top-of-funnel signal rather than attribution.

Do we need schema markup?

Where it can be verified against an independent source, such as product or local business data, yes. Elsewhere, assistants read the visible copy, so clear writing does more than markup.

What are GEO and AEO?

Industry shorthand for optimising for generative engines and answer engines. I use plain terms instead: AI search, and search surfaces for the places people now look.
